We decided to take the girls to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom this past weekend. Lately, they’ve really been into animals. We figured it would be a lot of fun for them. Boy.. we just didn’t know how much. We left around 9:00am, and ended up getting there a little after 10:00am. The line to get the tickets was long, but it was worth it. Daddy got two for 1 passes for the park, so we were able to take Grandma and Grandpa along with us! It was a totally awesome day.

We got there, and as soon as we made it inside, the there was an elephant there to greet everyone. The girls were just so excited. They even got to touch the elephant’s trunk. While we were taking pictures, the elephant sneezed, and Alexandra just laughed. She could not stop talking about it! When we got back to the stroller, the first thing she told Grandma, with a huge smile “Elephant SNEEZED!!!”. We all just started laughing.

We went on to “The Sea”. First we stopped and saw the Sea Lions. They were really cute… even got a couple of really cute pictures of them just hanging out. From there, we went to the Walrus area. The girls got to watch the walruses play around. One even came up to the window to say hello! We then went through the Shark Experience. The girls were just enthralled. They had recently seen “Finding Nemo” and knew exactly what sharks were. They loved looking at all the fishies. Next, we checked out the Dolphin Experience, and saw a couple of dolphins playing around. The Penguin area was really nice. One of the penguins actually came up to the front area and walked around to everyone.

The Land was the next area. The girls got to see Giraffes, Lions, and Tigers, and a Cheetah. They even got to climb around on a huge playground, and they went on their first rides!!!! The first one was a boat that swung around in circles. They seemed to really like it, so we looked for more rides to take them on. We ended up going on the Jeep Safari ride, and a Hot Air Balloon ride. The last one was so funny! The balloon rises up in the air, and the riders can spin the “basket”. We started off spinning really fast, but Victoria seemed a little scared. Alexandra was enjoying it until we thought she was getting super dizzy. She’s funny. She likes to follow things with her eyes when she spins.

We walked around a little after the rides. It was getting warm, and we saw people eating snow cones, so we thought it was a good time for a quick snack. The girls helped Daddy and Me devour ours. They loved it!

On our way out of the park, we stopped to look at the lines to the roller coasters. The Medusa looked awesome, and the line was really short. Grandma and Grandpa offered to walk the girls around a little while Daddy and I got to go on the ride. It had been nearly 3 years since we had been on one. It was just awesome! I had missed coasters so much!

The girls had shocked us all. They were so sleepy, but they refused to lay down in their stroller. In fact, they hardly used their stroller all day! They wanted to walk everywhere! They were such “big” little girls! At the end of the day, you could just tell they were exhausted. We walked back to the car and ate a small dinner that we had packed, and kept in the cooler. We thought the girls would fall asleep in the car on the way home, but no… They were wide awake, and watching Finding Nemo, one more time. We took Grandma and Grandpa home, and then went on to ours. Got the girls ready for bed, and that was it. It was a long day.. but it was so worth it. Just to see the smiles and hear the giggles as they got to see all these animals up close, and go on their first rides… I can’t wait to do this all again next year!

That’s right. I said WEEKEND!

I know, Mother’s Day is every day i get to spend with my little munchkins, but this weekend has been extra special. Besides all of the giggles, and hugs and kisses, I got to spend some time watching them have fun. I mean really have fun! We took the girls back to Fairy Tale Town, and to the Sacramento Zoo. We bought memberships to both places last time we were there… so we can go there every chance we get!

Fairy Tale Town was first. The girls went down every slide at least once. They giggled all the way down. They are just too cute! They had fun “driving” the train, and climbing all over Cinderella’s horses. They got water from Jack and Jill’s well, and slid down the rabbit hole. They even got to pet Peter Rabbit! It was so much fun.

From there, we went across the street to the zoo. They got to see the penguins, and giraffes, lions and tigers, lemurs and parrots. It was a fairly quick, but very cool trip to the zoo. We came home, ate lunch and put them down for nap. After they woke up, we took them to the mall and then out to dinner with their Auntie & very soon to be Uncle. We had planned on going to Claim Jumper, but instead went to Outback due to the long long long wait. The wait wasn’t too bad, and the girls actually had a lot of fun dancing and playing while we were waiting. During dinner, we actually had a great time. The girls were so happy, and eating so well. We found out the girls LOVE baby back ribs. They are soooooo my children. LOL.  On the way home, we really thought they would fall asleep… no such luck. They were wide awake until we got them home to bed.

Bright and Early Sunday morning, they’re awake and laughing. We all got up, and went downstairs. Daddy and the girls gave me a gift certificate to the spa! I can choose anything I’d like to do there. I’m so excited. It was the coolest gift they could’ve given me… besides all the smiles and laughter. It was a good day today as well… We spent the morning with Grandma Marvin. Made a big breakfast, and spent the morning playing. They were hungry and sleepy after she left, so we gave them lunch and put them down for a nap. Meemaw and Peepaw got here later in the afternoon, and were here when the girls woke up from nap. More playing, gift giving, and fun. Peepaw took them for a nice long walk. It was so cute. They walked with him and held his hands without a struggle. It was really just too cute.

After dinner, they each got their own popsicles for dessert. They looked so cute with popsicle all over their faces and their big smiles. Then it was off to bath and bed. I got so many hugs and kisses this weekend. It made this weekend just perfect.

To all other Mom’s who read this. Happy Mother’s Day!

This past weekend, my dad, the twins’ grandpa, or pee-paw as they like to call him, celebrated his 50th Birthday. The last few weeks, the girls have been traveling so much more than usual, with me and grandma (mee-maw), collecting party decorations. It was about a month of top secret planning, and super secret conversations with him around the house. He even volunteered to steam clean the carpets, thinking it was because we were planning on moving soon… We are.. just not right away. Poor dad… if only he knew why he was working so hard… hahaha..

Anyway, my husband took my dad out for the day. It was some great father-son-in-law bonding time. The party started around 3:30pm. Everyone was here and ready. My husband was just waiting for the phone call saying “Come Home”. 4pm comes, and we hear them arrive at the house. We shuffled everyone into the front room, and waited for dad to get to the door… When everyone yelled “SURPRISE”.. I swear he was gonna jump… It was so sweet to see the look on his face as he greeted everyone that came. Some people, he hadn’t seen in quite a while.

The party was awesome. The food was plentiful, and the laughter was resounding. We watched a slide show of dad’s life, and laughed at his pictures from back in the day. It was such a great day! I’m so glad we were able to throw the party, and really make 50 memorable for dad.
