The girls have just been my big helpers today.. or so they like to say..
During breakfast, they asked for more milk, but insisted on holding on to the lid for their sippy cups. I gave them the lids, poured their milk, and they placed the lid back on so I could screw it on. After I handed the cup back to Victoria, she looks at me with this big smile, nods her head, and says “I BIG HELPER!”. I just stepped back and started laughing. I couldn’t help it. She was so proud of herself. I had to tell her “You ARE a big helper!!!” Alexandra then proceeded to clap for her sister saying “helper HELPER!”
Ah these two.. never a dull moment!

This past weekend we took the girls out for their Easter photos, and to Fairy Tale Town! They had such a blast!
The Easter photos were first. We got the girls all dressed up and super cute, handed them a basket, started putting some eggs in random places, and let ‘em go! Alexandra quickly filled her basket with as many eggs as she could find. Victoria was not far behind… and I was thinking they wouldn’t be all that into an Easter Egg hunt this year… My mistake!!! They had so much fun looking for the eggs.. and were quite disappointed when they found out they were empty.. hahaha. Easter is only a couple of weeks away. They’ll have a nice Easter Basket full of fun things that morning. We took them to 3 different locations in the park for their photos. They took some really cute ones! Here’s a link to the Easter Photo Gallery.
After the photos, we took the girls for their first ever visit to Fairy Tale Town… They were such little grown ups. We tried getting them to use their strollers, but they just wanted to walk the whole time. We also tried taking them down the slides with us, but no, they wanted to go down the slide by themselves. The first slide was pretty steep, so we were a little hesitant.. but.. the second slide we decided to let them try on their own. Alexandra took it just fine, but poor Victoria.. She was trying to slow herself down a little with her foot, and her foot ended up getting stuck and flipped her upside-down. SO she slid head first on her tummy… When Daddy caught her at the bottom, she had this look of utter bewilderment on her face. It was actually kinda funny… but poor baby was spooked. It didn’t stop her though. She wanted to do it again…
We walked around a little bit and came across the cheese from “Three blind mice”, Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach, Jack’s Beanstalk, and Mother Goose… Everything was a slide.. and if it wasn’t.. they made it one… Hahaha.
All in all it was a great day. The girls were really good. They had a bunch of fun. The best part is… I bought a membership… so we can take the girls anytime we want!!!

In light of recent bug issues in the afternoons… i.e. gnats flying around absolutely everywhere… I took the girls for our walk this morning. On our way home, we walked past the park near the house. I saw someone I recognized from last Summer. I was so happy! I hadn’t been able to contact her since my computer took a dive last year….
Well, we hadn’t brought the girls’ shoes on this walk, so I ran home with the girls and grabbed their sneakers out of the van, put them on them, and ran back to the park. Yes… I ran… LOL. We got back and there was another mommy there with her son, just a couple of months younger than the girls. It was so much fun. The girls ran around so much, played on the playground, absolutely loved the slide, and got to chase a couple of boys around…. i guess it starts young. It was nice for the girls to get out and play with someone else, and for me to be able to talk to a couple of other moms in the area.
Grandma & Grandpa stopped by at the park for a little while and helped out with the girls. We finally decided it was time to go home around 10:00… and when we got home, Grandpa took out a bubble blowing machine that had the girls just laughing. I think it was a hit! The girls ate lunch and took a nap from there. I think it was a really good morning. In fact, I’ve joined a group here that plans trips out with the kids every few weeks. We have a meetup at the Zoo and the local aquarium coming up next month. I’m sure the girls will just love it!

I took the girls upstairs to do a diaper change… They can walk up the stairs now, so i let them do so, with me following close behind. We get upstairs, and I close the gate so they can wander a little and I don’t have to worry about it… What do they do? Close their bedroom door. I open it back up to let more light in… I get “MOMMYYYYY… CLOOOOOSE!!” from Victoria. So, ok.. close the door. I’m changing Alexandra, and Victoria is playing with the Leap Frog table, and then I hear her open up the toy box. Alexandra’s laughing at me and pretending the end of the “seatbelt” on the changing pad is a telephone. As I listen to her holding a conversation with an unknown entity, I hear *thud*…. “I’m oookaaayyy”. Alexandra and I look back and Victoria’s feet are sticking up from inside the toybox…. I just about dropped on the floor laughing, and only wished I had the camera on me. She didn’t cry, she didn’t fuss. She poked her head out of the box and looked at me with a stunned stare. I finished up with Alexandra, and put her down and ran to get Victoria out of the toy box… As I pick her up and set her down, she runs over shuts the lid and gives the toy box the nastiest look I’ve seen her give… Oh.. man… if only I had the camera…

I’ve written before about a gal named Genevieve who did the girls’ favorite music (Choo Choo Soul).. Well.. she’s come out with a solo album for the adults!!! It’s called Diversity Personified and it’s just awesome! You can buy it via the link on her myspace page. I got it in the mail today.. and rushed the rest of my afternoon walk to come home and listen to it… It’s really awesome!!! Some of the tracks are auto played when you go to her page. I don’t know what else to say.. but check it out! It’s totally worth it!!!

The girls have been so affectionate lately. It’s been so cute. Every stuffed animal they get their hands on, they must hug them. Lately, They’ve been running up to me and throwing their arms around me. Once in a while they’ll throw in a kiss or two. I love it… It’s things like this that really make being a mommy beyond worth every little scream, cry and fuss.
I don’t know if I’ve even mentioned this before or not, but Alexandra & Victoria are my little dancers!!! They love music! One artist they are particularly fond of is Genevieve. She has an album called Choo Choo Soul that the girls LOVE!!! I had to buy it on iTunes! They have a copy in the house, and in the car! It’s awesome! The girls get to see her music videos on the Disney Channel too. Every time they hear the beginning of the clip (a train whistle), they scream and run for the TV. They just dance and sing along. I really think her music has helped the girls too. They’ve already learned to count to 20 (with a little help), and most of the ABC’s! I’m just amazed! They bring me the puzzles that have things to count and the alphabet pieces and start telling ME what they are! I love this music! I love anything that enhances their learning experience, and being that they love music.. this is right up their alley!
Anyway.. I had to rave about it… It’s just awesome music!!!

Why is it that they adamantly refuse to clean up the play room for me, yet, when Grandma and Grandpa are here, they jump to the task?
The other day, my washing machine decided it was going on strike.. for good. So rather than do laundry that day, I spent the time trying and trying to clean the playroom. Every time I’d get something picked up and put away, the girls would go and look for it.. and then dump it all back out on the floor. Victoria thought it was so funny, it became a huge game that she somehow talked her sister into. Just as soon as I got all of the puzzle pieces in a box, Victoria would come over, pick up the box and dump all of the pieces either on her sister, or on her own head… I couldn’t help but just start cracking up.. I had to stop while I was trying to tell her how bad that was… Oh man.. she saw right through my “discipline”… She looked at me with her gorgeous brown eyes, and said “I love you” and laughed. UGH! How is a mommy to discipline her child with puppy dog eyes and “I love you”. Oh man.. it’s only just starting.
Well, later on that evening, I called my parents to see if they could watch the girls while we went to Home Depot to order our new washer. We were gone a little longer than I had hoped. When we got home, the girls were happy to see us.. but they were so funny. Their play room was spotless… and they were sitting with grandma & grandpa watching the science channel!?!?!?! Too spooky!!! I knew we had little “geeklets”.
Needless to say, that play room didn’t stay clean more than a few minutes the next morning. Of course, they didn’t care to help me clean up either… LOL

You know the old addage… “Never wake a sleeping baby.”? Well… what if not waking them means that you will not get any sleep that night?
The girls went upstairs for a nap around 1230 this afternoon. They just refused to fall asleep.
They had a very normal morning, full of laughing, reading, dancing and playing. They ate a bunch of apples, grapes, bananas, and quesadillas. They told me to pick them up, and put them down. It was a very active morning to say the least. Towards the end of lunch, they started asking to go “nite nite”… so.. i cleaned them up, took them upstairs, changed their diapers and put them down for their daily nap. About 20 minutes into it, i hear crying. i go up there, lay them back down, cover them with the blankets, rub their backs… and walk out.. Fast forward 30 mins later… Repeat … This went on a couple of times, when I finally gave them “the talk”. I told them they had to take a nap or they couldn’t read their “Peek-a-boo Kisses” book when they got out of bed. They LOVE that book. They want to read that every chance they get. I put the book up and told them they needed to fall asleep so they could read it when they woke up… Wouldn’t ya know it… 15 mins later (2:30pm), they’re sawing logs… Wow.. the power of a book.
So Daddy and I had an appointment to try out a place called Dinner My Way at 7pm. The girls are usually at least taking a bath by that time. It was about 4pm when I decided I needed to get ready. The girls were still sleeping. I had to decide if I was going to wake them up, or let them sleep until I was done getting ready. So what’s an extra 30 minutes or so? I figured, the more sleep they got, the better behaved they may be. I got ready as quickly as I could, and went in with their outfits and woke them up. They seemed like they were already starting to wake up. They were excited to see me, and immediately asked for their “peekaboo book”. I’m still laughing at how excited they get when they see that book. Needless to say, they were pretty good when we went out. Getting them to bed when we got back was a whole different story though.
We got home, and they said they were hungry so we fixed something up for them to eat quickly. We had debated skipping bath time since it was so late… But they will not deviate from the routine. They kept asking for a bath while they were eating. We gave them a bath, and tried reading them a book at bedtime “Daddy Kisses“, which they usually love. They didn’t want that book.. they wanted “Peekaboo Kisses“! Silly girls… They would probably read that book all day if they could!
