So tonight for dinner, we gave the girls some spaghetti. We were just amazed at how well they were eating it, and were quite proud of ourselves for actually getting it with the first try tonight. Daddy and I sat down with the girls to eat dinner and just a few minutes into it, Alexandra starts showing us everything she picks up and tells us what it is.. “olive”, “noodle”, etc. Then we hear Victoria… “More! More! Ketchup!” So that’s why they ate it!!! They thought it was ketchup!!! Daddy & I just start laughing so hard! We knew they were ketchup nuts.. but this is too much! Needless to say they had completely finished their spaghetti, and wanted something else.

Daddy had brought over some jalapeño poppers, which the girls kept calling “chicken”. I tried to convince them it wasn’t chicken, but they insisted…. And they wanted some. We had an extra one, and as spooked as we were to give it to them, they were adamant that they wanted it. So, we cut one in half and gave it to them, pepper and all! They inspected it for a few minutes, stuck a finger in the cream cheese, tasted it. It was great. We thought they were really going to eat it. Alexandra took a huge bite, and pulled out the jalapeño with her teeth. She took it and looked at it, put it back in her mouth, and chewed on it for a second. She looked at us and made a funny face, pulled the pepper out of her mouth and just laughed, and said “EEEWWWWW”. Victoria on the other hand, devoured her pepper.

Next they asked for more milk. Well, after eating a jalapeño I would guess more milk was an order! I filled up their cups and handed them back and said “there you go!”. Victoria just copied me. “There you go” she says. I handed Alexandra her cup back, and Victoria said it for me “There you go!”. These two are picking up words and phrases left and right. They never cease to amaze me!

I have genius children… at least I’d like to think so. The grandparents brought over a stack of wooden picture puzzles around Christmas time. I’ve been slowly introducing them to the girls. So far, we’ve worked on 2 farm animal puzzles, an ocean puzzle and a jungle puzzle. They can complete the farm puzzles in no time flat… It’s so funny to watch them work on those. They’ll take the piece, hold it up to one of the spots and say “Nope” then move on to the next spot. It’s really quite funny.. They’ll eventually put the piece in the right spot, look up at me and laugh. “Did you actually think I didn’t know where it went mommy?” The funny thing is that they can sit there and work two puzzles forever. I don’t know how it doesn’t eventually bore them. They’ll finish one and yell “Trade” and switch… over and over and over. Oh.. and I almost forgot.. not only do they figure the puzzle out, but they love working on the sounds each animal makes too… I’ll be in the next room and all of a sudden hear “MOO!!!” and just start laughing.. I guess she found the cow piece.

So I give them lunch and they start telling me “nite nites”. They yawn and smile, and look at me with sleepy eyes. I picked them up and carried them both upstairs. I changed their diapers and set them in the crib. I covered them with their blankets, gave them their teddy bears and told them to sleep well… I go into my room, grab the baby monitor and go downstairs, turn it on and all I hear is laughing, squealing, and the rustling noise of their little feet running in circles around their crib. This goes on for about 10 minutes until i go back upstairs and try to settle them down. I “reset” them with blankets and teddy bears. The door closes… que squealing, laughing and running. All i can do is laugh. At least they’re not fighting… I figure.. they’ll settle down eventually.. and when they wake up, start it all over again..

Well… aside from the normal everyday life of taking care of my girls.. I also have a couple of places I love to hang out online and chat with my friends. One of the newest ones is a board called ParentWorks.net. It is a completely free online forum for parents who have children of all ages.
A very dear friend of mine suffered a tragedy in her family tat anyone would hope to never have to go through. Her 6mo son Bryant passed away due to SIDS about a month ago now, leaving behind his twin brother Finn, as well as other siblings. She frequented a twin parenting board that I also am a member of. But after this, she was saddened everytime she visited.

She wanted to come up with a place that everyone is welcome and where she could be comfortable. Where she could post her thoughts and feelings, and be among parents of singletons and twins and more! I am one of the lucky people to have been invited to her new site. Out of sadness this tremendous outpouring of love and support has risen. We hope to be able to bring together parents of all walks of life to a place where we can share our thoughts and experiences in parenting, have fun talking about the latest in entertainment, and even some computer stuff…. Moms and Dads are welcome & we hope to see you there!

That is Victoria’s favorite new saying… I have no idea where she got it.. but she started using it the other day. It was totally out of the blue too…

All i did was ask her if she wanted some apple.. and out came “yeah right”.. and the biggest giggle i’ve ever heard… This girl is only 18 1/2 months old and she’s already got attitude…. What am I going to do?

Today was Sacramento Museum Day, where all of the museums were open with free admission.. Being the airplane loving family that we are… we of course went to the brand new Aerospace Museum on the now closed McClellan AFB. When I say brand new, I mean it.. They just had their grand opening yesterday!

We walk in there, and the girls’ eyes just lit up. They started smiling, and yelling “AIRPLANE!!!” They saw the airplanes on the ceiling first. Then they noticed there were airplanes all around us on the ground. They were in heaven. Yup.. they are definitely our children! All they wanted to do was get close enough to touch the planes. We walked around inside for a little while, then decided to go outside where the rest of the airplanes/helicopters were. They were having fun going from plane to plane touching every fuel tank or wing they could reach. We ended up back in side, and checked out the art upstairs. We went to the gift shop and bought a couple of things and then we left.

We then went to Goore’s after this to buy the girls their first potty! We’ve been telling them we were going to get one, and each time they’d get excited about it. They’ve started telling us when they need a new diaper, so we figured.. recognition is the first step, right?!?! When we got to Goore’s, we went straight over to the potty training seats, and took a look at all of them. We eventually let the girls pick the one they wanted, and go figure, we’ve trained them right! They pick one that’s on Sale! I know.. they’re geniuses!

Fast forward to tonight…. We get the girls in the bath tub… starting the bed time routine… halfway through the bath Alexandra looks at me and says “poo poo”. Ok I know you didn’t just go in the tub… LOL… I asked her if she had to go, and she replied “yes”.. Ok… I picked her up, dried her off, and just checking, asked her again if she had to go… and she still said yes… so.. on the potty she goes. Sure enough… SHE WENT! I was very surprised. WE were very surprised!!! It was major celebration after that! Everyone was clapping, Daddy, Mommy & Victoria… Yep… we’re on the way to potty training.. and they’re only 18 months old…
