So, this weekend the family went out to do some much needed shopping… The poor girls were totally stretched to their limits.. We went out early enough, but somehow, we got held up at one of our stops… We were headed to the grocery store, and saw that Alexandra had fallen asleep in her car seat… ok, no big deal.. it was past nap time. She was tired. Normally, taking her out of the car seat wakes them up, but not this time… I picked her up and put her in the stroller… She’s still out like a light… it was so funny… Victoria, wide awake, starts reaching for her sister and saying “sister, wake”… Poor girl didn’t want to be the only one awake… Well… she got Alexandra to wake up… after some coaxing from Mommy… She was all smiles after that…
We left the grocery store for home… in a quick 4 minutes, Victoria had fallen asleep. Ryan turned around and tried to wake her up by shaking her foot, or tapping her leg… nothing… He started playing with her face, and she started laughing… in her SLEEP!!! We thought she was awake, but when he stopped, her face relaxed and she breathed in and that was it… IN HER SLEEP!!! We were just cracking up! I only wish I had a video camera.. oh and that I wasn’t driving at that moment… We got them home, and put them down for a nap… They both sawed logs for about 3 hours…
So today, I was standing at the end of the hallway watching the girls… and this is what went through my mind…
I’m watching them, and the girls are contemplating how they’re going to get to their Baby Einstein DVD’s on the window ledge. They’re taking all kinds of things over to the ledge and trying to see if it’ll let them reach high enough.. It’s absolutely amazing to see their little minds work.. I guess having toys with wheels and little chairs light enough for them to pick up and carry around wasn’t such a great idea after all… Lesson learned…
They stop every few minutes to check out the Wiggles, but the music isn’t flowing so much today… Oops.. I’ve been caught spying… now they’re running up to me all puckered up asking for kisses.. “No, Mommy. We weren’t doing anything we weren’t supposed to be doing.”
Ahhhh…. the innocence of a child….
Anyway… Lunch time went without a hitch, and nap time, well.. that’s a whole different story. Apparently there’s a race track in the crib. All i hear over the monitor is “Ready, GO!” and little footsteps running across the crib… How these two have so much energy is beyond me… But I love it. I love every little footstep, every little shreik of laughter, every smile, and hug I get from these two girls.
Being a Stay at Home Mom of 18 month old twins is quite an adventure…
When my husband and I found out that we were expecting back in December of 2004, we were elated. When we found out we were expecting TWINS 22 weeks into the pregnancy, we were stunned, shocked, surprised, and excited. We were wondering how we were going to get an entire second set of everything we had just purchased for one baby, two weeks before… But, we made it work… With the help of family and friends, we’ve made a lot of things work.
They continue to surprise us daily with the new words they’re learning, and actually using in context. They’ve gone from crawling to cruising to walking to running on no time flat. They keep us on our toes to say the least.
I look forward to sharing more with everyone… I promise.. there will be a laugh or two as the days go on…
