This past weekend, we took a little trip up to Santa Rosa, CA for Auntie Boo’s wedding! I was a bridesmaid and the girls were 2 of her 3 flower girls. We were a little concerned about how the girls would fare.. but they did well.

We got in Friday afternoon, after a nice scenic tour, and checked in to our hotel. We hung out for a little while, and tried desperately to get the girls to take a nap. They wouldn’t even think about it… We finally gave up shortly thereafter and just kept them from getting into everything in the room. We left around 4pm for the Church and rehearsal. We got there, and all they wanted to do was run around the Church. We kept them pretty much in a small area, and they did behave (mostly). Thank goodness daddy was there to hang on to them. He watched them while we lined up, and figured out who was doing what at what time, etc. When it was their turn to walk up the aisle, Daddy told them to hold hands and walk up to mommy. They did hold hands, and they did RUN up to mommy LOL… but they did it! Almost as soon as they got to me, they wanted to go back to daddy. He was waiting off to the side for them. They went back to him, and we completed the rehearsal without incident.

On to the rehearsal dinner….

It was very nice. The groom’s parents set it up in their back yard. it was very nice. The girls did behave.. They got to see a lot of family that they don’t normally see… and they met a lot of new people. I was actually very happy with how they did that night. Around 9pm, they started getting really tired, so we made our way back to the hotel.  Getting them down for bed that night wasn’t too difficult. They were exhausted.

We woke up the next morning, and went to breakfast at the IHOP right around the corner. The girls loved their pancakes. We checked out of the hotel, and went over to Auntie Boo’s house to help out and get ready. The girls were not going to nap there. We ended up going to the church and setting up their pack n plays in the child care room there. It was cool, quiet, and we figured we had a better chance of getting ready there, since if they didn’t nap, there were plenty of things for them to play with.

They did end up taking a nap, which was awesome! I was able to go get ready, do my makeup and hair, and actually feel pretty! Something I don’t feel all the time when I’m sitting at home in sweats, and my hair up in a bun.  We let the girls nap until the both of us were ready for the wedding, since getting them ready was a few minutes of putting on their dress and sandals, changing their diapers, and putting their hair up. DONE!

They didn’t walk up together for the wedding. Daddy tried to get them to walk just like they did the day before, but once they saw all the people, Alexandra stopped in her tracks. Victoria ran up to me. Daddy picked up Alexandra so she could still “walk” up the aisle. It was very cute, and ended up getting applause from the family. The rest of the wedding was very nice. The girls behaved, the Bride & Groom were awesome. No one tripped,  no one fainted, everyone laughed, and everyone had a great time.

The reception afterward was nice. There was food, dancing and laughter. Great picture opportunities, and fun picture slide shows.  We had to leave the reception around 9pm. We had a long drive home. The girls ended up falling asleep in the car on the way home. It was so cute. Finding Nemo was on the DVD  player, and Victoria would not, no matter how badly she wanted to, fall asleep until the closing credits were rolling. Alexandra didn’t care. She was asleep just a few minutes after we got on the road.
